While Carson graduated in June, 2010, her great effort is being carried on through a coordinated effort of Elaine DeMasi, MAUHS Director of Community Service (School-To-Work), and Jennifer Welles (Senior Project Teacher). Carson Casey wrote in the Spring of 2010: I am a senior at Mount Anthony Union High School. Being a mathematician at heart, I chose to focus my Senior Project on creating a tutoring program to link MAUHS and MAUMS students. The High School students who volunteer to tutor serve a more in-depth role beyond merely assisting with homework problems. As tutors, we consider ourselves to be role models along with supporting Mount Anthony Middle School students in mathematics. MAUHS tutors in this program are also math enthusiasts; it is my hope that our energy and interest in mathematics will be contageous!
My goal has been to create a website that is easily accessible to Mount Anthony Union Middle School students in need of tutoring in mathematics. This website has been designed to make tutor sign ups more simplistic on both ends. This website should also serve to provide a connection between teachers and parents.
